Prologue

Everyone has been through at least one life storm: During her pre-teen years,
Rita Young experienced her first storm and it came in the form of an adulterous
father, Reverend William Young, who just happened to be the pastor of the first
and only African American church in Greensboro, Alabama. The scandal and shame
that their family had to endure was almost unbearable but their father was
determined to finish the work that he’d started, work that allowed him to regain
the respect that he’d lost.

Twenty years after the first storm, Rita’s father died unexpectedly and left
their family, as well as the church in a terrible state. Rita, who was a self
proclaimed daddy’s girl, was devastated and prayed for peace to reign over their
lives, and in the midst of the storm, she met Reverend Michael Green and it felt
like her prayers had been answered.

Reverend Michael Green was well known in the south for his accomplishments in
the Christian community: in a ten year span, he was able to turn his small
predominately white church into the biggest racially diverse church in the
south. His message was love and unity and his sincerity truly touched Rita.
However, it wasn’t her soul that he wanted to touch. It was the rest of her and
neither one of them were prepared for that kind of storm…
